The Golden State Warriors are no strangers to bold moves, but a new four-team trade proposal could be their most ambitious yet—potentially landing two-time NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and former All-Star Bradley Beal in a single blockbuster deal.
While most hypothetical trades involving the Warriors are fairly straightforward, Bleacher Report's Dan Favale has floated a complex scenario that would shake up the league. The proposal comes at a critical time for Golden State, as they navigate the uncertain return of Jimmy Butler, who is recovering from a torn ACL and may not be back until 2027.
"Win-now is the default so long as Stephen Curry plays at a superhuman level when healthy," Favale wrote. "It's a lot harder to prop up urgent aspirations when Jimmy Butler may not return from his torn ACL before the calendar flips to 2027."
The trade would send Butler and the No. 1 overall pick to the Los Angeles Clippers, while the Warriors would receive Leonard and Beal. The Washington Wizards would land the No. 3 overall pick and a future first-rounder via the Clippers, and the Memphis Grizzlies would pick up the No. 5 and No. 11 selections.
Leonard, who turned 35 this year, played 65 games last season and performed at an elite level when healthy. Beal, meanwhile, could provide additional scoring and ball-handling—something the Warriors desperately need as they look to maximize the final championship window of Stephen Curry's legendary career.
Of course, adding Leonard wouldn't exactly help the Warriors shed their "Olden Warriors" label—a nickname born from a roster featuring Butler, Curry, Al Horford, and Draymond Green, all over 35. But for a franchise chasing one more ring, the risk might be worth the reward.
