Wales captain Kate Williams has been ruled out of the final two rounds of the 2026 Women's Six Nations, dealing a significant blow to head coach Sean Lynn's squad as they prepare to face Ireland and Italy.

The inspirational back-row sustained a leg injury during the second half of Wales' 38-7 defeat to France, forcing her to miss Saturday's heavy 62-24 loss to England at Ashton Gate. The news adds to Lynn's growing injury list, with flanker Alex Callender already sidelined for the entire tournament.

Compounding matters, wing Catherine Richards has also been ruled out with a serious knee injury, leaving Wales without two key attacking threats for the crucial final fixtures.

In a positive development, experienced centres Hannah Dallavalle and Carys Cox are both set to return for the trip to Belfast on 9 May. Dallavalle was a late withdrawal from the England match, while Cox has recovered from a training knock.

Flanker Bethan Lewis, who captained the side in Williams' absence against England, will continue to lead the team for the remaining matches against Ireland and Italy. Lynn has also called up two under-21 players—centre Freya Bell, who made her senior debut as a replacement against England, and full-back Amy Williams—to bolster his options.

Wales are currently on an eight-match losing streak in the Six Nations, making these final two rounds a critical opportunity to turn their fortunes around. Despite the setbacks, Lynn praised his team's resilience, noting their "never say die spirit" against the world's best.
