Another week of professional baseball is in the books, and the Wabash Valley continues to be well-represented on the diamond. From the majors to the minors, local graduates are making their mark.

Starting on the mound, Northview graduate Braydon Tucker delivered a strong performance for the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils. Tucker earned the win on April 10th, pitching five solid innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out two in a 6-3 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats. Through his first two starts of the season, the right-hander boasts an impressive 1.00 ERA.

In the big leagues, Terre Haute South alum Tim Herrin has been a busy reliever for the Cleveland Guardians. Herrin saw action in three games this week against the St. Louis Cardinals, including a tough-luck loss in extra innings on Tuesday. Despite the result, he continues to be a trusted arm out of the bullpen early in the season.

The success extends to Indiana State University alumni, who are shining across professional baseball. Veteran pitcher Colin Rea secured his second win for the Chicago Cubs, going six strong innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. His versatility has been an asset, as he's recorded both a start and a save this season.

Meanwhile, Sean Manaea is settling into a new role with the New York Mets. The left-hander fired three scoreless innings of relief last Sunday, showcasing the form that has him off to a stellar start with a 2.25 ERA.

Down on the farm, the hits keep coming for infielder Clay Dungan. Playing for the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas, Dungan put together a fantastic week at the plate, collecting multiple hits in several games and driving in key runs to fuel his team's offense.

On the pitching side, Matt Jachec has been a workhorse for the Double-A Akron RubberDucks, making two appearances this week and eating valuable innings out of the bullpen. His ability to miss bats is evident, racking up 10 strikeouts over nine innings so far this season.

Finally, in High-A, Randal Diaz is contributing for the Wilmington Blue Rocks. The infielder has been a consistent presence, scoring runs and driving in teammates to help his club secure victories.

It's always exciting to track the journeys of athletes from our community as they climb the professional ladder. Their dedication and hard work are an inspiration, reminding us that the path to the pros often starts right here at home.
