From the final buzzer to the last lap, this year has been packed with unforgettable moments. Now, it's your turn to decide: which team deserves the crown?
The football season set the tone early. Benedictine and Calvary Day both battled their way to the GHSA state finals. Benedictine mounted a fierce comeback but fell just short in a 42-39 shootout against Creekside, while Calvary Day fought hard in a 28-21 loss to Hebron Christian. Not to be outdone, Bethesda Academy brought home a SCISA state title, capping an undefeated season with a dominant win over Pee Dee Academy.
Flag football made history too. The Jenkins Warriors became the first public school team from the Savannah area to reach the state finals, taking on nationally-ranked Greenbrier in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.
On the track and field, Savannah Arts Academy's girls cross country team continued their dynasty, winning their second straight Class 2A state title and their third in four years. Meanwhile, South Effingham's wrestling squad proved their dominance once again, claiming the Class 5A Traditional State tournament championship.
On the hardwood, the Memorial Day girls basketball team made history by winning the first girls state championship in school history—a milestone that will be remembered for years to come.
Spring sports are keeping the momentum going. The Islands and Savannah Arts boys soccer teams are vying for state titles this week, while Benedictine's baseball team is hosting North Oconee in the state semifinals. Richmond Hill's boys and girls track teams are competing for state crowns, and their golf teams are also in the hunt. Benedictine's golf squad is looking to finish strong as they host the state championship at Savannah Golf Club on May 18-19.
