It's that time of the week again—time to recognize the standout performances from high school girls athletes across the SouthCoast. Last week's winner, Fairhaven's Briarose Aspden, dominated the polls with over 10,000 votes (65%), continuing a tradition of excellence that includes past honorees like Old Rochester's Caroline Houdelette, GNB Voc-Tech's Zoey Chase, and Bishop Stang's A'mya Acevedo.

This week's nominees for May 4-10 feature a thrilling mix of high-scoring lacrosse stars and dominant tennis players, all vying for your vote. Voting ends at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 17—so don't miss your chance to support these athletes.

Let's break down the top performances:

Track & Field Stars Shine
Cabe took first in the high jump (4-6) and the 100 hurdles (20.7) against Cape Cod Tech, while Cookson was a force in multiple events, winning the triple jump (28-8), long jump (14-01.50), 100 (14.0), and 200 (28.2).

Lacrosse Players Light Up the Scoreboard
This week's lacrosse nominees are putting up eye-popping numbers. Levrault exploded for 14 goals in just two games, including an 8-goal outburst against Fairhaven. Aspden, last week's winner, continued her hot streak with 12 goals and an assist across three games, while Souza matched that total with 12 goals and 3 assists.

Milestone moments also highlighted the week: Medeiros netted 7 goals in a win over Bourne to reach the 100th of her career, then added 3 more against Dartmouth. Caulkins followed suit, scoring 7 goals against Cape Cod Tech for her 100th career goal, plus 5 more against Bristol-Aggie.

Other lacrosse standouts include Cook (7 goals, 4 assists, 11 draw controls in two games), Kilpatrick (3 goals, 5 assists, 11 draw controls in wins over Dartmouth and Somerset Berkley), and White (4 goals, 1 assist against Bridgewater-Raynham, plus a score against New Bedford). Gagni contributed 5 goals and 4 assists in three games, while Smith added 4 goals and 12 draw controls over the same span.

Tennis Ace Takes the Court
On the tennis side, Pavao won her first singles match against New Bedford, showcasing the precision and grit that defines spring sports.

With such a competitive field, every vote counts. Will a lacrosse star repeat as Athlete of the Week, or will a track or tennis standout steal the spotlight? Cast your vote before the deadline and help crown this week's champion.
