The high school baseball season is in full swing, and North Jersey is delivering some incredible early-season action. As we close the book on another thrilling week, it's time to spotlight the athletes who dominated the diamond from April 5-11.
These players didn't just contribute; they put their teams on their backs with clutch hitting, dominant pitching, and game-changing performances. Now, it's your turn to decide whose week was the most impressive.
For Don Bosco Prep, junior Anthony Arcieri was an on-base machine, fueling the Cardinals to a 3-1 week. He extended his hitting streak to seven games, reaching base a staggering 13 times in 17 plate appearances. His .692 batting average, five runs scored, and three RBIs were a catalyst for his team's success.
Over at St. Joseph Regional, senior Sebastian Diez showcased his two-way talent, leading the Paladins to a perfect 4-0 week. At the plate, he hit .533 with six RBIs and four steals. On the mound, he was just as dominant, pitching five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts to earn a win and help extend his team's streak to six games.
Jefferson's junior ace, Marco Francin, was nearly untouchable. He batted an incredible .636 at the dish while also pitching six innings without allowing an earned run in a marathon 10-inning victory. His all-around effort helped the Falcons soar to a 3-0 week and a five-game winning streak.
Pitching was the story for Butler's Ryan Harris, who anchored a Bulldogs staff that posted three consecutive shutouts. Harris himself threw six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a key win, and he has now pitched 11 consecutive innings without surrendering a run.
Pascack Hills senior Leo Kassteen had a week for the ages, embodying the term "five-tool player." He terrorized opponents by hitting .750 with a home run and seven RBIs, while also swiping seven bases. Not done there, he took the mound and fired a complete-game, five-inning shutout with nine strikeouts.
At Ramsey, junior slugger Carlos Reynoso caught fire, lifting his season average above .600 with a scorching .714 performance last week. He launched his first homer of the year, drove in six runs, and has now racked up a team-high 14 RBIs, powering the Rams to a perfect 3-0 stretch.
Finally, sophomore standout Mateo Rivera of St. Mary's proved he's ready for the big stage. He drove in a whopping nine runs last week, raising his team-leading total to 15. Hitting .667 with key hits in a shutout victory, Rivera was instrumental in the Gaels' 3-0 week.
