While VikingsTerritory is your go-to for football coverage, we uphold one annual tradition: dropping our NBA playoff predictions. This year, our panel—Janik Eckardt, Josh Frey, and Dustin Baker—has mapped out the entire 2026 postseason bracket. With the league's hierarchy looking clearer than ever, here’s how we see the action unfolding.

Out West, the first round looks like a formality for our predictors. We’re unanimous on the Oklahoma City Thunder dispatching the Phoenix Suns in five, and the San Antonio Spurs pulling a stunning upset over the Portland Trail Blazers, also in five. The Houston Rockets are favored over the Los Angeles Lakers in six, though a mid-series return from a hobbled Luka Dončić could swing momentum. The marquee matchup pits the Denver Nuggets' high-powered offense against the Minnesota Timberwolves' stifling defense; we give the edge to Denver in a grueling seven-game series.

The Eastern Conference first round promises its own drama. We see the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks advancing comfortably. The lone point of contention is the 4-5 showdown: while Frey backs the Toronto Raptors, the consensus picks the Cleveland Cavaliers to win a thrilling six-game series that could be the East's most entertaining.

The conference semifinals are where our panel's visions truly diverge. In the West, we agree the Thunder will overpower the Rockets, but the Spurs-Nuggets series splits us. Eckardt believes Denver's experience will prevail, while the rest of the panel is riding the Spurs' Cinderella story to a dramatic seven-game victory, setting up a captivating Western Conference Final.
