The Minnesota Vikings used one of their third-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft on offensive tackle Caleb Tiernan out of Northwestern. Tiernan brings a higher floor in pass protection, along with tons of experience, as he started over 40 games in college.

There were concerns about his arm length and if he would be able to play outside as a tackle or kick inside to guard, but if you ask Caleb, he is not concerned at all.

“A lot of those come from people who probably don’t know football that well… It's not an arm length competition on the field. It's a physicality competition. I feel like I've got that, and that's what's allowed me to succeed.”

It will be curious to watch and see where Minnesota uses Tiernan during his rookie season. Yes, he does have a point that it is physicality and mindset, but the arm length for offensive linemen is still very important. Should someone go down on the interior, I think it is more likely he plays there than outside at tackle.
