The Minnesota Vikings made a roster move less than 48 hours before the beginning of the NFL Draft.
They waived Jaylon Hutchings, according to the league's official transaction report.
Hutchings is a 6-foot tall, 305-pound defensive tackle out of Texas Tech.
He actually appeared in games in parts of six seasons with the Red Raiders. In five of those, including 2020, he was a stout contributor along the defensive line.
Hutchings finished his career with 61 collegiate games played, including 193 tackles, 26 which were for loss, and 11.0 sacks.
He wasn't drafted into the NFL in the class of 2024 but has hung around on the league's fringes.

Hutchings signed with the Chicago Bears in Aug. 2024 but was released at the end of the preseason.
He then signed with the Vikings on a reserve/future contract in January. That kept him around the team this offseason, but evidently the Vikings decided they didn't need to keep him around any longer.
Between those two NFL stints, Hutchings played in the Canadian Football League. He had been an all-league player in the CFL.
Given the timing here, there's a chance Hutchings is lining up another opportunity in Canada. His NFL future doesn't appear to be forthcoming.
