MONTGOMERY – The Barr-Reeve Vikings golf team braved extreme weather conditions and top-notch field on Saturday to win the Hatchet Invitational at Country Oaks.

With a field that featured a number of sectional and potential regional opponents, Barr-Reeve shot a 316 and provided the medalist in sophomore Lincoln Miller with an even par 72.

In second was Forest Park at 324, Lincoln and Bloomington South with 325s, and Memorial in fifth with a 328.

Boonville was close behind with a 329. Washington came in at 339, Washington Black at 386 and Washington Catholic at 469 in the 20-team field.

Several teams dropped out during the round and several players dropped out during the round, as the day featured cold temperatures, high winds and at times, horizontal rain on the regional host course.

After Miller’s 72, the Vikes got a 77 from Brady Wagler, an 82 from Lincoln Wagler and a pair of 85s from Cam Knepp and Isaac Knepp.

The Washington team picked up a 79 from Aiden Boyd, Bensen Smith with an 84, 87 from Patrick McCarthy, an 89 from Tristan Zollars and a 94 from Drew Jones. Levi Burkemper led the WHS Black team with a 93.

Washington shot 469 as a team, with Hank Haag leading with a 113, a 116 from Nick Bassler, and 120s from Brody Voges and Jace Hammer.
