Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are heading into Game 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves with the kind of news every playoff team dreams of: a fully healthy roster. As the Western Conference Semifinals heat up, the Spurs hold the series advantage and are looking to tighten their grip with another win tonight.
In a postseason where injuries can derail even the best-laid plans, San Antonio has been dealt a perfect hand. No injuries, no restrictions, no notable absences have been reported ahead of Game 4. That means head coach Gregg Popovich can roll out the same starting lineup that has been clicking all series: Wembanyama anchoring the paint alongside point guard Stephon Castle, sharpshooter Devin Vassell, veteran forward Harrison Barnes, and versatile wing Julian Champagnie.
The timing couldn't be better. With a win tonight, the Spurs would return to the friendly confines of Frost Bank Center with a chance to close out the series in Game 5. That's the kind of momentum that can carry a team deep into June.
San Antonio seized control of the series on Friday night with an impressive 115-108 victory in Game 3. Wembanyama once again looked every bit the generational talent he was billed to be, posting a monster stat line of 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks. That performance also pushed his postseason average to an eye-popping 5.0 blocks per game over seven outings—a number that would make even the great Tim Duncan proud.
Despite the dominant showing, Wembanyama isn't letting success go to his head. "I think we haven't done anything yet," the rookie sensation said after Game 3. "I think we showed some strength during (Friday's) game, some relentlessness that we've got to prove. We've still got to prove to ourselves that we can sustain that. Sometimes it feels like being in a more hostile environment, a harder environment, forces us to step up our game and be on our criteria even more."
That mindset—hungry, humble, and focused—is exactly what championship teams are made of. And with a clean bill of health and a roster firing on all cylinders, the Spurs have all the tools they need to make a deep playoff run.
