The Utah Mammoth are using a new promotion to help fans get ready for its first ever home playoff game.

Since many Utah residents are ready to swap their fandom from the Vegas Golden Knights to their new team, the team is helping them out by letting them exchange Vegas jerseys for Utah ones.

The promotion took place Friday afternoon and saw lines extend all across the SeatGeek Plaza at the Delta Center. The rules stated it must be an official Vegas jersey to complete the exchange, and added that the fans must cheer on their new team during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Although its unsaid what will be done with these Vegas jerseys, the team is ok with burning some money to generate some buzz. The Utah jerseys that are given away Friday are free.

Due to the location, some Utah residents adopted the Golden Knights as their hockey team, but are ready to make the switch to what is really the hometown team.

The two teams are facing off in this year's first round of the playoffs as well. The first two games, which were played in Vegas, were split between the clubs. Vegas won the first game 4-2 and Utah took the next game 3-2.

The promotion is just another way of the young team trying to gain any advantage. It's also a smart lesson in marketing to build hype for the team's playoff run.

It's Utah's first time making the Stanley Cup Playoffs in franchise history despite it being the team's second season. It's also the first year the team has been known as the Mammoth after playing as the 'Utah Hockey Club' for a year.

The Delta Center will certainly be energetic as it hosts its first ever playoff game Friday at 7:30 p.m. MDT.
