It has been a very busy week for the Trojans in the transfer portal

The USC men's basketball team is on a roll in the transfer portal, and they're not slowing down anytime soon. For the second straight day, the Trojans have added a new commit, this time landing former South Dakota guard Isaac Bruns.

Just a day after securing Lindenwood transfer Jadis Jones, USC struck again on Thursday with the 6-foot-5 guard from North Sioux City, South Dakota. Bruns brings a versatile scoring punch to the Trojans' backcourt, having developed into a standout during his three seasons with the Coyotes.

According to 247Sports' Ahmad Akkoui, Bruns is the seventh transfer portal addition for USC and the fifth guard to join the program. His journey at South Dakota showcased steady growth: as a freshman, he averaged 6.3 points in 13.9 minutes per game. By his sophomore year, he stepped into a starting role midseason and posted 14.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. As a junior, he exploded for 20.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting an impressive 44.7 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from three-point range, and 84.3 percent from the free-throw line. Unfortunately, a foot injury during conference play cut his 20-game season short.

Bruns' high school resume is equally impressive. He was named the Gatorade South Dakota Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2023, led Dakota Valley to back-to-back Class A state championships, and earned three-time Class A first-team all-state honors.

With Bruns on board, USC now has 13 scholarship players for the upcoming season, leaving two spots still available. It'll be intriguing to see how head coach Eric Musselman and the Trojans fill those remaining roster spots as they continue to build a competitive squad for the new season.
