USC freshman guard Alijah Arenas has earned a spot among the 44 prospects invited to the 2026 G League Combine, the NBA announced Saturday. The event, set for May 8-10 at Chicago's Wintrust Arena, serves as a key stepping stone for players eyeing the next level.
In his debut season with the Trojans, the 19-year-old averaged 14.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, though he shot just 34.1% from the field. He flashed his scoring potential with four 20-point outings, including a standout 29-point performance on Feb. 3 that helped USC topple Indiana. However, the program revealed Tuesday that Arenas would withdraw from the draft and return for his sophomore year, leaving his combine participation uncertain—he could still attend or be replaced.
The invite list, voted on by team executives, typically highlights prospects with strong draft odds or potential as undrafted free-agent signings after the two-night draft concludes June 24. The combine will feature 5-on-5 games, strength and agility drills, shooting tests, and measurements, with top performers advancing to the draft combine from May 10-17 at the same venue and the Marriott Marquis.
Several players on the list are testing the predraft waters, with the option to return to college. They'll gain valuable team feedback on their draft stock before the early entry withdrawal deadline on May 27—a critical window for shaping their future.
