Will Eberl wind up getting a one-year extension at FC Bayern?

Uli Hoeneß, never one to shy away from a microphone, surprised everyone by playing it cool when asked about Max Eberl's future at Bayern Munich. The former club president kept his cards close to his chest, refusing to tip his hand on whether the sporting board member will earn a contract extension beyond 2027.

Eberl, who joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in March 2024, has his current deal running through June of that year. When pressed on the matter, Hoeneß chose his words carefully, revealing that board member contracts can't be extended more than a year before they expire. "The next supervisory board meeting is in about two weeks," he told DAZN. "We'll discuss it there, but talks can't start until July 1st at the earliest. No need to get ahead of ourselves."

While finishing the season strong remains the top priority, that upcoming board meeting looms large. Speculation is swirling about whether Eberl will be offered a one-year extension, and there's plenty to weigh when you consider everything on his plate.

From day one, Eberl was handed a massive to-do list: slash the wage bill, find Thomas Tuchel's successor, overhaul squad planning, and lock down key contracts. He's been the driving force behind new deals for Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, and Joshua Kimmich—though those big-money negotiations haven't exactly helped trim the payroll. The expensive extension of Dayot Upamecano this year only added to the club's financial commitments.

On the pitch, it's hard to argue with results, but front office decisions are all about looking ahead. Missing out on Florian Wirtz and making a move for Luis Díaz has turned into a significant storyline, and how Eberl navigates these waters will likely shape his legacy at the club. For now, all eyes are on that supervisory board meeting and what it means for the man in charge of Bayern's sporting future.
