The University of Hawaii men's basketball program is making a major addition to its frontcourt as it prepares for its move to the Mountain West Conference. The Rainbow Warriors have landed a signed commitment from Northern Arizona transfer Zack Davidson, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward who brings size, skill, and a winning pedigree to the islands.

Davidson's decision to join the 'Bows was multifaceted. "It goes without saying the coaching staff has high-character people," Davidson told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. "They do a lot of winning, which was pretty attractive to me. I’d love to play for a winning team and hopefully get another conference championship." He specifically cited UH's recent Big West Tournament title and the upcoming jump to the more competitive Mountain West as key factors, adding, "As a competitor, you want to play for the best team in a good conference."

The move also represents a homecoming of sorts. Davidson has fond memories of visiting Oahu with his father, surfing off Waikiki and, in his own words, never getting "enough of the 7-Eleven Spam musubi." Furthermore, he'll be reunited with his lifelong best friend, former Mater Dei High School teammate Scotty Belnap, who is also joining the Hawaii roster.

On the court, Davidson is a proven scorer when healthy. A former CIF Division I Player of the Year in California, he started strong at NAU last season, averaging 14.0 points on efficient 61% shooting before a foot injury cut his campaign short. Now fully healed, he provides immediate size and offensive punch for a Hawaii team looking to make a statement in its new league. Basketball clearly runs in the family, with both of his brothers playing Division I ball and his parents having been collegiate athletes at Nevada.

This strategic acquisition signals Hawaii's ambition. By adding a talented, experienced big man who values culture and competition, the Rainbow Warriors are not just filling a roster spot—they're building a foundation for success in their next chapter.
