The University of Dayton women's track and field team etched their names into the history books this past weekend, capturing their first-ever Atlantic 10 outdoor team championship in Fairfax, Virginia. The Flyers dominated the competition, amassing 153 points and securing a commanding 44-point margin of victory—a testament to their depth and determination across events.
Leading the charge was Jadyn Haywood, who was named Track Performer of the Year for the second consecutive season. Haywood defended her A-10 titles in both the 100m and 200m sprints, posting impressive times of 11.60 seconds in the 100m and 24.08 seconds in the 200m. Her back-to-back double victory showcased her speed and consistency on the big stage.
Simone Bessong also shined brightly, earning Rookie of the Year honors after collecting four medals over the weekend. Her versatility and poise under pressure were key factors in Dayton's historic run.
The Flyers didn't just win—they rewrote the record books. The team set seven school records over the course of the championship, with Jameson Pillifant leading the way by breaking three marks in the hurdle events. This historic performance signals a new era for Dayton track and field, proving that the program is built for sustained success in the Atlantic 10.
