The UConn Huskies' backcourt depth is taking another hit, as guards Uroš Paunovic and Jacob Furphy have entered the transfer portal. This brings the total to four Huskies seeking new opportunities elsewhere, signaling a significant roster reshuffle for the defending champions.

Paunovic, a junior with two years of eligibility remaining, saw limited action this past season, appearing in 15 games. The Serbian guard brings professional experience from his time in the KLS league, where he averaged 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists for KK Zlatibor before arriving in Storrs.

Freshman Jacob Furphy also departs after 14 appearances. The Australian prospect arrived with a strong international pedigree, having won gold with the Australian U18 team at the FIBA Asia Cup and leading the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup in minutes played while averaging 16.7 points per game.

For both players, the search for a larger role is the clear motivation. With the recent news that fellow guard Silas Demary Jr. is returning for his senior season, the path to increased minutes at UConn was becoming increasingly narrow. Their departures open up scholarships and create opportunities for Coach Dan Hurley to retool the roster as he builds for the future.
