The Bruins nearly fell out of the Top-10, but have since climbed their way to No. 5 in the last NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll of April.

After a brief scare that nearly sent them tumbling out of the Top 10, the UCLA softball team has stormed back with authority, securing the No. 5 spot in the latest NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll—the final rankings for April.

The Bruins hit a rough patch earlier this season when they dropped two Big Ten Conference games to powerhouse Nebraska, ranked No. 3 at the time. That series snapped an impressive 22-game winning streak and dropped UCLA from No. 7 to No. 9 in the polls. But true to championship form, the Bruins didn't stay down for long. In less than a month, they've clawed their way back into the top five, fueled by a new 15-game winning streak as they head into their final regular-season conference series against No. 11 Oregon.

Since that Nebraska series, UCLA's offense has been on fire. The bats have come alive in explosive fashion, with dominant three-game sweeps over Illinois and California, capped by a nine-run series finale against Washington. That performance was especially sweet for the Bruins, as the Huskies—who had been ranked No. 24—were knocked completely out of the poll after UCLA swept them over the weekend.

What makes this season truly special is the star power lighting up the lineup. Senior infielder Jordan Woolley is on the verge of making history: she's closing in on becoming the first Division I player ever to record 30+ home runs, 100+ RBIs, and a batting average above .500 in a single season. That's the kind of jaw-dropping stat line that gets fans buzzing and makes every at-bat must-watch.

The Bruins now turn their attention to a pivotal series against Oregon, running from Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3. After that, it's on to the Big Ten Tournament, which kicks off Wednesday, May 6. With momentum on their side and a lineup that's hitting on all cylinders, UCLA is poised to make some serious noise in the postseason.
