The Cincinnati Bearcats closed out their regular season in dramatic fashion, securing a 37-19 overall record (17-13 in Big 12 play) with a thrilling 8-7 Senior Day victory over Texas Tech at UC Baseball Stadium. It was a fitting end to a memorable campaign—one that saw the Bearcats battle through adversity and deliver when it mattered most.

The game started with fireworks as UC stormed out of the gates, plating seven runs in the first two innings and building an 8-3 lead by the fourth. But Texas Tech, known for one of the most potent offenses in the country, refused to go quietly. The Red Raiders pounded out 19 hits on the night, including a ninth-inning solo homer from Logan Hughes that cut the deficit to just one run.

With the tying run on base and the tension mounting, sophomore Adam Buczkowski took the mound and showed ice in his veins. After surrendering a single to Linkin Garcia, he locked in and retired the next three batters in order. The final out came on a high pop-up that senior Christian Mitchelle tracked down in foul territory—a storybook ending on Senior Night.

"It's a great feeling," Mitchelle said after the game. "After I caught it, I kind of knew I was going to do something here. It's probably the last time on this field. I've got to make the last out."

The Bearcats had dropped the early game of the doubleheader 6-5, making the nightcap a must-win to salvage the series. And with the victory, UC positioned itself for a double-bye in the upcoming Big 12 tournament—a spot that could become official with a West Virginia win over TCU on Saturday.

Offensively, the Bearcats were led by Ryan Tyranski, who went 4-for-5 with a home run, and Quinton Coats, who drove in five early runs on a 3-for-5 night. Brenden Garula earned the win in relief, improving to 2-0, while Buczkowski notched his sixth save of the season.

Head coach Jordan Bischel acknowledged the challenge of facing a relentless Texas Tech lineup. "That Texas Tech offense is one of the best in the country," he said. "They're hitting .340 or .350 for a reason. Where we did so well was we got double plays turned, we threw strikes, we made them earn their runs. Holding them to seven, that's a good offense. We did a really good job battling. I thought we'd need 12, 14 or 15 runs to win that game."

With 37 wins on the season, the Bearcats are now just two shy of the program record of 39. As they head into postseason play, this Senior Day victory serves as a reminder of what this team is capable of when they rise to the occasion.
