When the Denver Broncos went on the clock in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft, Tyler Onyedim had a feeling he was going to the Rockies.

Tyler Onyedim had a feeling he was heading to the Rocky Mountains long before the Denver Broncos made it official. When the team traded back into the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the defensive lineman's intuition kicked in.

"I prayed," Onyedim recalled during a post-selection conference call with Denver media. "I prayed to God. We talked about this. I've been praying about this my whole entire life. I saw Denver on the clock. I saw they traded. I just had a feeling they were picking me. When they traded, I looked at my agent, and I just knew. I knew what it was."

That feeling turned into reality when the Broncos selected Onyedim with the 66th overall pick. The pick adds depth to a Denver defense that's already turning heads, and Onyedim's college resume suggests he's ready to make an impact.

Over a standout five-year college career split between Iowa State and Texas A&M, Onyedim built a reputation as a relentless force on the defensive line. During his time with the Cyclones, he appeared in 40 games, racking up 90 total tackles (37 solo, 53 assisted), 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection. In 2024, his efforts earned him an honorable mention All-Big 12 nod.

But it was his lone season with the Aggies that truly showcased his potential. Onyedim posted career highs across the board with 48 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks, while also forcing a fumble. That performance proved he could elevate his game against top-tier competition.

Now, as he prepares to join a Broncos squad known for its defensive prowess, fans have plenty of reasons to be excited. Onyedim's combination of size, instincts, and relentless motor could make him a key piece in Denver's defensive puzzle for years to come.
