Two Spaulding High School athletes are making waves this spring, as softball standout Megan Uraskevich and baseball star Garrett Truax have been named the Seacoast Athletes of the Week for April 27-May 2. This dynamic duo from the same school is a testament to the rising talent in the region, and their performances are sure to inspire young athletes everywhere.

Uraskevich dominated the online poll, securing nearly 53% of the vote with an impressive 5,144 total votes—a clear sign that the community is rallying behind her. On the field, she delivered a performance that any pitcher would envy: a complete-game shutout where she struck out 16 batters and allowed no hits in a 14-0 win over Manchester Central/Memorial. She also contributed two hits and two RBIs at the plate. Even in a tough 5-4 loss to Salem, she showed grit, striking out six over seven innings. Her coach, Sheila Colson, praised her leadership: "She's our only senior and such a great role model. She goes hard on every play and always finds the positive."

Truax followed suit with a strong showing in the boys' poll, earning nearly 36% of the vote with 402 total votes. While details of his week weren't highlighted, his win places him among elite company, joining previous winners like Winnacunnet's Harvey Reynoso and Exeter's Ethan Battles. For a baseball player, consistency and poise under pressure are key, and Truax is clearly delivering when it matters most.

This weekly honor, presented by York County Community College, is a great way to track the season's standout performers. Past winners this spring include Winnacunnet softball player Lucy Gelbstein and Exeter girls lacrosse player Riley Benevides on the girls' side, and Winnacunnet baseball player Harvey Reynoso and Exeter baseball player Ethan Battles for the boys. For fans of high school sports, these polls offer a fun way to support local stars—and maybe even spot the next big name in sports gear.

Whether you're a player looking to emulate Uraskevich's strikeout prowess or Truax's all-around game, remember that the right equipment can make all the difference. From bats and gloves to cleats and training gear, staying prepared is half the battle. Congrats to both athletes for their well-deserved recognition!
