The Minnesota Twins snapped out of their recent slump in dramatic fashion, holding off the Toronto Blue Jays for a 4-3 victory on Sunday to split their four-game series. The win was especially impressive given the early exit of starter Joe Ryan, who left the game with elbow soreness after just one batter.

The 2025 All-Star struck out Yohendrick Piñango to start the game but then walked Kazuma Okamoto and immediately signaled to catcher Victor Caratini and the dugout before departing. Enter Andrew Morris, who delivered a masterful relief performance, pitching 3 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in his sixth major league appearance since debuting on April 12.

The Twins, who had lost 13 of their previous 16 games, found their offensive spark in the fifth inning. Luke Keaschall led the charge with two hits, including an RBI double during a three-run frame that proved decisive. Victor Caratini also contributed with an RBI double in the first inning, and the team capitalized on three doubles in the fifth off reliever Braydon Fisher after Caratini walked with one out.

The game wasn't without late drama. Okamoto, who has now homered in three straight games, launched a two-run shot in the ninth inning off Twins reliever Justin Topa. But Topa held his nerve, securing his second save by inducing a game-ending double play from Lenyn Sosa with two runners on base.

Toronto starter Trey Yesavage (1-1) made his second start of the season, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over four innings. The Blue Jays now head to Tampa Bay, where they have not announced a starter for Monday's game after Max Scherzer landed on the injured list with forearm tendinitis and ankle inflammation. The Rays will counter with right-hander Nick Martinez (2-1, 1.70 ERA).

Meanwhile, the Twins look to build on this momentum as right-hander Taj Bradley (3-1, 2.85) takes the mound Tuesday against the Washington Nationals, who have yet to name their starter.
