In the world of college football, coaching changes often stir up emotions, but Ole Miss Rebels linebacker Trinidad Chambliss is taking the high road. Breaking his silence on Lane Kiffin's departure to LSU, Chambliss offered a candid yet gracious take on the situation.

Speaking with On3's Chris Low, Chambliss admitted the timing was puzzling. "Yeah, it was definitely a weird process, him leaving right when we were getting a chance to play for everything we had worked for," Chambliss said. Coming from Ferris State, where head coach Tony Annese has built a dynasty over 14 seasons, the sudden exit during a College Football Playoff run was unfamiliar territory. "I guess I wasn't used to something like that," he added.

But there's no bitterness here. "No hate or any less love for Coach Kiffin. He gave me a great opportunity to come here and play football, and I'm truly grateful for that," Chambliss emphasized. It's a sentiment echoed across the program, with interim-turned-head coach Pete Golding also squashing any rumors of bad blood. "I hope him success... there's no bad blood between coach Kiffin and I," Golding stated.

Of course, fans might feel differently. The rivalry already boiled over recently when an LSU fan faced assault charges at Swayze Field during a baseball game between the two schools. But for the players and coaches, the focus remains on football. When Ole Miss hosts LSU on September 19 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the emotions on the field will tell the real story.
