Trevor and Marissa Lawrence surprised a group of about 50 excited 10-to-12-year-olds from the local Boys & Girls Club at KIPP Bold City High School, hosting a special joint football and soccer clinic.
The event is part of a broader endeavour for the Lawrences, who eventually want to start their own charity foundation. The youth camp is just another step in the right direction.
Dubbed the "Lawrence Sunshine Camp," the camp is a step in a long-held vision the Lawrences have had of giving back to the community since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the first-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

"Wanted to do a free camp for the kids in the area, just have some fun. It's soccer and football. Obviously, Marissa could speak more to that; she played soccer in college and growing up and obviously, my background playing football," Lawrence said when asked about the camp Saturday morning.
Marrissa Lawrence played soccer at Anderson University, while Trevor played college football at Clemson, about a 15-minute trek between the two schools.
"So, doing a camp where you don't have to just be a football player or love football to be here. It's for all the kids, and if they like soccer [or] football, we're going to do both. Then, after, we're just going to have some fun," said Lawrence.
After the on-field portion of the camp, the Lawrences hosted the kids inside the school's gymnasium for a fun assortment of activities, including ping-pong, cornhole and more.
"I think our passion is really just to help kids have fun and to give them things to look forward to and things they maybe didn't know they were interested in until they got a chance to try," Marissa Lawrence said.
"So we really just want to step in and help kids where needs need to be met and also just on top of that, make some fun stuff and memories for kids for them to have forever."
Both Trevor and Marissa have been heavily involved in the community since arriving in Jacksonville. They've attended and hosted numerous events around the city, including appearances at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville.
"I think obviously we've been here for five years now and we've always wanted to be involved in the community, to give back. And we have in different ways, but we're just now kind of finding our own lane of what we want to do, what we're passionate about," Lawrence said.
Part of that is providing cool and different experiences for kids; it's something that Lawrence says is important to allow kids to see what is possible.
"Whether it's trying new foods, going to the beach, vacation, or whatever it is, I think being able to provide cool experiences for kids to inspire them and to dream bigger is ultimately our goal," said Lawrence.
"Then also being able to give back to organizations that are doing a lot of really important things for kids, providing, whether it's financially or school or all the different things, health, there's a lot of things that we want to give back to as well," he added.
Trevor and Marissa began thinking about how they could give back and support the community the moment they knew Jacksonville would be called home. They wanted to get in a position where they can give back, financially or otherwise, which is what they've been preparing for the last five years.
Now, there's an opportunity for the Jaguars quarterback and his family to start something of their own.
"We wanted to get to a place where we felt confident in what we were doing and had a vision for it before we just tried to jump in. So it took a little bit of time, but this has been something that I think has been on our hearts and minds for a long time," said Lawrence.
"How can we give back to the community that's given us so much and that's become home for us?" he asked.
The Lawrences don't necessarily know when their foundation will officially be active, but they're laying the groundwork now to set everything up for the future. All centered around helping others in the community, especially the growing youth.
