The Florida State Seminoles are making moves in the transfer market, hosting former Texas State defensive lineman Devarrick Woods for a visit. Even with the transfer portal officially closed, Woods entered his name before the deadline, making him eligible to transfer despite spring practice wrapping up. This news comes courtesy of Warchant's Matt LaSerre.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 290 pounds, Woods was initially thought to be out of eligibility after the 2025 season. However, on April 24, he announced he'd been granted an extra year, sparking interest from several programs. FSU has moved quickly to bring him to campus, and they're not alone—the Florida Gators are also in the mix.
Last season, Woods appeared in 11 games for Texas State, tallying 16 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and a quarterback hurry over 177 snaps. Before his time with the Bobcats, he spent two seasons at Hinds Community College, where he racked up 66 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three pass breakups in 18 games. A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, Woods was an unranked prospect in the 2021 recruiting class before earning a three-star rating from Rivals, who ranked him the No. 138 overall player and No. 25 defensive lineman in their JUCO rankings.
FSU already has a connection to Woods' former program, having signed his Texas State teammate Jordan Sanders earlier this offseason. While Woods isn't expected to step in as a starter, his experience would add valuable depth to a Seminoles defensive line that remains largely unproven. For a team looking to bolster its front seven, this visit could be a key step toward shoring up the roster for the upcoming season.
