Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a massive blow to their Premier League survival hopes as they could be without Dominic Solanke for the remainder of the season.
Spurs claimed a much-needed 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, but the victory came at a significant cost for them.
Solanke was forced off with a hamstring injury, while Xavi Simons picked up an ACL injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Tottenham haven’t given an update on the extent of Solanke’s injury, but The Telegraph report the forward may have suffered a grade-two injury.
Recovering from the issue could take between three and eight weeks, which suggests he may not play again for the Lilywhites this season.
Solanke suffered an ankle injury in August and remained out for over four months.
But he was a regular starter during the second half of the season, scoring three goals in 15 Premier League appearances.
Solanke’s absence would be a blow to Tottenham’s hopes of securing top-flight survival.
The Lilywhites are currently stuck in the relegation zone, despite winning against Wolves last weekend.
West Ham United managed to retain their 17th spot with a 2-1 victory against Everton following an injury-time goal from Callum Wilson.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest extended their impressive run on Friday by putting five past Sunderland to seal an emphatic success.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side now face Aston Villa on the road. The West Midlands outfit are a formidable team this season, and Spurs need a special performance to beat them on their home turf.
