Yann Bisseck marked his return from injury with a towering header to open the scoring at the Olimpico Grande Torino, and the Germany defender delivered an honest and upbeat post-match assessment that captured both the frustration of dropping points and the excitement of what awaits next weekend.

Bisseck has been one of Inter Milan’s most improved players this season.

His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch, aggressive in defence and a genuine aerial threat from set pieces, makes him a valuable asset in Cristian Chivu’s squad.

His return to fitness after a difficult spell on the sidelines is a timely boost as Inter close in on the Scudetto.

On his goal, Bisseck kept his explanation simple and enjoyable.

“Being a tall player it is important to be a factor on set pieces. Being tall helps,” he said with a grin, via FCInterNews.

Characteristically, he immediately shifted focus to what needs to improve.

“I think I am doing well this season, but there is always space to improve. As I always say.”

His honesty about the second-half capitulation was equally direct.

“Today we did not do very well in the second half, perhaps there was some tiredness. Credit to Torino, but a team like ours with a 2-0 lead should not let themselves be caught.”

Indeed, Inter had the game completely under control before the momentum shifted.

Conceding twice in the second half to a side with basically nothing to play for was an avoidable lapse from a squad of this quality.

However, Bisseck‘s eyes are already on next Sunday.

On the prospect of clinching the title at home against Parma, his response was perfectly measured.

“I think there are no more beautiful emotions than that. It would be a wonderful feeling, but first we must play 95 minutes of football. If we stay focused and do what we know how to do, in the end we will celebrate.”
