The NFL offseason always brings its share of rumors, whispers, and what-ifs. Currently, a quiet draft buzz is building around one of college football’s top arms and a franchise built on star power. Fernando Mendoza, one of the draft’s top quarterback prospects, envisions his pro journey beginning with the Raiders under the guidance of Tom Brady.
Quarterback Fernando Mendoza has his sights set on the Las Vegas Raiders and Tom Brady, hoping to learn from the seven-time champion as he writes the opening pages of his NFL story. He is calling it a dream scenario, saying it would mean the world to him.
Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department ranks Mendoza as the best quarterback in this year’s draft class. He is also listed as the No. 3 overall prospect. In B/R’s latest mock draft, the popular quarterback is projected to go No. 1 overall to the Raiders.
“It would mean the world. Tom Brady, he’s going to pour into whatever quarterback they take or that they sign, like Kirk Cousins,” Mendoza said during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.

He called it a great opportunity and noted that if drafted by the Raiders, Brady would be a boss rather than the best friend his six-year-old self once pictured. He said the experience would still be cool, as he wants coaches to push him to reach his full potential as a quarterback.
However, if the Las Vegas Raiders draft Fernando Mendoza, as many project, he won’t be in Pittsburgh for the event. The 22-year-old has chosen to stay home in Miami instead, saying it is the best choice for his family. He explained that he wants as much family and support around him as possible.
“I wanted to make the memory with everybody who poured into my football journey,” Mendoza shared. “Mentors, family, coaches, friends. Being able to share that memory with all of them is going to be the best memory I can make.”
