Executives from ESPN, NBC, Amazon Prime Video and FOX share thoughts on the 2026 NFL schedule for their company. Spoiler: They love it. Here's why.

Tom Brady's long-awaited return to New England is just one of the many storylines that have TV executives buzzing about the 2026 NFL schedule. And if you ask the networks, they'll tell you: this season is shaping up to be a masterpiece of programming.

From ESPN to NBC, Amazon Prime Video to FOX, the league's broadcast partners are all singing the same tune—but for very different reasons. We sat down with executives from each network to break down what makes their 2026 slate so special.

FOX, which had been the longtime home of the NFC before shifting to a more balanced AFC-NFC mix in 2025, is leaning back into its roots. "We actually want to keep as much of the NFC power as we can," said Michael Mulvihill, FOX Sports president of insight and analytics. "We very much want our identity to be wrapped up with the NFC, and this feels like a good time to be aligned with the NFC."

That's not to say FOX is abandoning AFC action entirely. Fans can still catch marquee matchups like the Week 14 showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs. But the network's focus is clear: double down on big NFC brands and markets.

Why the NFC love? It's a combination of young quarterback talent—think Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels, and Jalen Hurts—and massive market sizes like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas-Fort Worth. "We're coming out of an era where the AFC probably had more of the marquee quarterbacks, and they obviously had a Chiefs dynasty," Mulvihill explained. "But the pendulum has swung back to the NFC."

For fans gearing up for the 2026 season, the takeaway is simple: expect plenty of star power, historic rivalries, and a schedule designed to keep you on the edge of your seat from Week 1 to Week 18. And for those looking to rep their favorite team in style, there's never been a better time to update your game-day wardrobe.
