The Tennessee Titans family is mourning the loss of a beloved figure, as longtime NFL coach and iconic radio voice Dave "Coach Mac" McGinnis has passed away at the age of 74.

McGinnis, whose battle with an illness led to hospitalization in March, was a cornerstone of the organization for decades, leaving an indelible mark both on the field and in the broadcast booth.

For Titans fans, his voice was the soundtrack to game days, serving as the team's radio color commentator from 2017 through 2025, first alongside the legendary Mike Keith and later with Taylor Zarzour.

His deep football knowledge came from a remarkable 30-year NFL career, which included a pivotal eight-year stint as the Titans' linebackers coach from 2004 to 2011 and a four-year tenure as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk captured the profound sense of loss, stating, "My heart aches... He was family. Coach Mac gave so much of himself to this organization over the years and his passion, loyalty and love for the Titans never wavered."

Echoing that sentiment, Titans CEO Burke Nihill remembered McGinnis as a foundational figure: "Coach Mac was a treasure. He taught generations of players and colleagues not just about football, but about toughness, integrity and how to carry yourself the right way."

More than just a coach or broadcaster, McGinnis represented the heart and soul of the franchise—a mentor whose authenticity and kindness defined his legacy. His passing leaves a void in Nashville, but the lessons of loyalty and passion he embodied will forever be part of what it means to be a Titan.
