In a game that had a little bit of everything—rain delays, blown leads, and a heart-stopping finish—the Detroit Tigers showed why they're one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. They rallied for a dramatic 10-9 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday, extending their winning streak to an impressive six games.
The Tigers appeared to be cruising early, building a five-run lead thanks in part to a two-run homer from Dillon Dingler. However, the Royals stormed back in a wild seventh inning, capped by a three-run blast from veteran slugger Salvador Perez, to take an 8-6 lead.
But Detroit refused to quit. With their backs against the wall in the bottom of the ninth, star outfielder Riley Greene stepped up with a clutch, two-out, two-run double to tie the game. Rookie Colt Keith then delivered the final blow, lacing a walk-off single to send the Comerica Park crowd into a frenzy and complete the incredible comeback.
This kind of gritty, never-say-die performance is what defines a team on a roll. As the Tigers continue to build momentum, every win like this one strengthens their belief and makes them a team no one wants to face.
