It feels like the gut-punch losses are starting to pile on top of one another. You know how, when a hitter is struggling, we often say that they might just need to see one ball go over the fence to get their confidence back? That's exactly how I feel about the Tigers right now. They need to find a way to secure a win so they can believe in themselves again, because right now, it feels like a team just waiting for bad things to happen.

Injuries have certainly played a role, especially from a psychological standpoint, but even when this team was healthy, they were blowing late leads. This latest loss marks the fourth heartbreaking defeat of the season, with three of those being walk-offs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The pattern is becoming all too familiar.

What makes this one sting even more is how much promise the game held. Keider Montero delivered another brilliant performance on the mound, continuing to carry a rotation that didn't even have him on the Opening Day roster. While the offense wasn't explosive, they managed to take a lead against left-hander Chris Bubic—a notable achievement for a team that has struggled against southpaws. Tyler Holton came in during the seventh inning and pitched brilliantly, setting the stage for closer Kyle Finnegan. But then, in a flash, he unraveled. When it rains, it pours.

Losses like this are tough to dissect, and sometimes it's better to just move on. Detroit needs to find a way to regroup. Tomorrow, they'll send Ty Madden to the mound for his first start of the year. He was outstanding as the bulk pitcher during the Tigers' bullpen day against the Red Sox, and hopefully, he can pick up where he left off. The challenge won't be easy, as they'll face the always formidable Michael Wacha.

UPDATE: Burch Smith will start, with Ty Madden serving as the bulk pitcher once again.
