The Dover High School boys tennis team couldn't have asked for a better start to their Division I season. On Thursday, they delivered a commanding statement, sweeping all six singles matches and cruising to an emphatic 8-1 victory over Concord.
The Green Wave's dominance was on full display across the board. Diego Lopez set the tone with an 8-2 win at the top spot, while Matias Lopez, Evan Weete, and Gavin Beauregard followed with decisive victories. The depth of the squad shone through as John Tran and Aidan McCann secured hard-fought wins at the fifth and sixth positions, with McCann clinching a tight 9-7 battle.
The momentum carried straight into doubles play. The Lopez brothers paired up for an 8-2 win at first doubles, and the duo of Weete and Beauregard mirrored that score at second doubles, sealing a near-perfect team performance to open their campaign.
Meanwhile, in other local action, the Spaulding boys team saw a bright spot in their season opener as Ronald Boisvert and Logan Putnam fought to an 8-6 victory in their No. 3 doubles match.
Not to be outdone, the Dover girls tennis team also kicked off their season in style with a clean sweep. Paige Wilson, Kim Tarr, Jane Mathews, Siena Dambrosio, and Lily Mozzoni all won their singles matches convincingly. The success continued in doubles, where the pairs of Wilson/Tarr and Mathews/Dambrosio won 8-2, and Mozzoni teamed with Ella Froton for an 8-6 win, completing a dominant day for Dover tennis.
