The minor leagues were buzzing last week with standout performances, and it was a particularly proud week for Wisconsin baseball fans. While Brewers top prospect Andrew Fischer grabbed headlines with a Midwest League Player of the Week honor, several other familiar names from the Badger State also earned recognition across Class A.
Fischer, the slugging infielder and Milwaukee's first-round pick in 2025, put on a show for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on May 10. He went 4-for-6 with two home runs and a triple, driving in five runs in a 15-8 win over the Peoria Chiefs. That game marked his fourth straight with at least two base runners, and he also added a double and a homer earlier in the week. The No. 5 prospect in the Brewers organization now boasts an impressive .988 OPS at Advanced Class A, with a .365 on-base percentage, nine homers, eight doubles, and 26 RBIs.
But Fischer wasn't the only Wisconsin native making waves. Dean Kilen, another 2025 first-round pick (13th overall, seven spots ahead of Fischer) and a Tennessee Volunteer, earned Northwest League Player of the Week honors with the Advanced Class A Eugene Emeralds. Kilen matched Fischer's four-hit performance on May 10, blasting a home run and driving in three. He also had two doubles, a homer, and five RBIs in a May 9 game, and after a single on May 12, he extended his hitting streak to seven games. The 22-year-old shortstop, who attended Louisville before finishing at Tennessee, has an .863 OPS, a .310 average, and four homers this season. A strong defender, he's ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the Giants organization by MLB Pipeline.
Rounding out the Wisconsin trio, right-hander Drew Snead—Fischer and Kilen's teammate at Tennessee—earned Northwest League Pitcher of the Week honors with the Tri-City Dust Devils. In his May 7 start, Snead was flawless, retiring all 18 batters he faced over six innings with six strikeouts. While the Dust Devils' bullpen couldn't preserve the no-hitter against Spokane, Snead's perfect outing was a highlight of the week.
For fans following the next generation of stars, it's clear that Wisconsin talent is making its mark across the minors—whether in the Brewers' system or beyond.
