Arch Manning is about to become the most-watched player in college football. As the Texas Longhorns quarterback prepares for his second season as a starter, the spotlight is blinding—and for good reason. The five-star recruit from the 2023 class is already being talked about as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
It's hard to believe, but Arch is entering his fourth season in Austin. After two years as a backup, he finally took the reins as a redshirt sophomore—and he didn't disappoint. The New Orleans native threw for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. He also added 399 rushing yards and 10 more scores on the ground. Those are the kind of numbers that make scouts salivate.
But here's where things get interesting. With that kind of draft stock, the inevitable question has popped up: Will Arch pull an Eli?
Back in 2004, Arch's uncle famously refused to play for the San Diego Chargers after they held the No. 1 pick. The Chargers ended up trading him to the New York Giants, where he went on to win two Super Bowls. It was a bold move that changed NFL history.
So, will Arch follow in his uncle's footsteps? Not so fast.
We don't know which team will hold the top pick in 2027—it's likely to be a club coming off a rough season—but Arch's dad, Cooper, just dropped a major hint that suggests the family is open to anything. In a recent interview with Love NOLA TV, Cooper, the older brother of Peyton and Eli, made a surprising confession.
"There's a lot of teams I don't like," Cooper admitted. "And I have a feeling, if we're lucky [and Arch is drafted], there's gonna be someone—you never know who could land where—and all of a sudden I'm dripped out in Falcons gear."
For those keeping score at home, the Falcons are the arch-rivals of Cooper's beloved New Orleans Saints. That's a big deal. And it's a pretty clear sign that the Manning family is ready to embrace whatever comes next—even if it means Cooper has to trade his Saints hoodie for a Falcons jersey.
