Playoff soccer is officially here, and the excitement is building across all classes. From powerhouse favorites in Class 2A to intriguing dark horses in Class 1A, the stage is set for some thrilling postseason action. Here's a final look at the top contenders before the games begin.

Leading the pack are the Bulldogs, who have been dominant all season with a stellar 16-3-2 record. The combination of goal-scorers Paislee Welge and Ella Walk, alongside goalkeeper Lainey Jacobs, makes them a formidable force. As the No. 2 seed in the Class 2A Morton Sectional, they're well-positioned to make a deep run and bring home some hardware.

Mahomet-Seymour faces a challenging path, needing to get past the Maroons to reach the sectional. Hosting a Class 2A regional as a 3 seed, the Maroons will be tough to beat. The team is keeping an eye on Rylie Schulze's availability, but Chloe Sikora and Kallyn Elliott have stepped up admirably in her absence, keeping the squad competitive.

The Chargers, seeded fifth, have a difficult road ahead in their Class 2A regional. They'll first face host Normal West, a team that handed them a 5-0 loss in their regular-season finale. A win there would set up a showdown with top-seeded Normal U-High, but with players like Alicia Fernandez and Alaina Kimble leading the charge, they're ready for the challenge.

In Class 1A, the Illineks are riding momentum after a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against St. Thomas More in last month's Champaign-Urbana Showcase. Thanks to standout performances from Cali Cooper, Eleni Deltas, and goalkeeper Ava Roberts, they'll face a rematch in the Bloomington Central Catholic Regional semifinals next week.

The Sabers, seeded fourth in the same regional, will face off against Uni High (the 5 seed) in what promises to be an intense matchup. The winner will likely take on host Raiders for the regional championship, and with Leighton Clark leading the way, the Sabers are ready for the test. It's going to be an exciting postseason, and these teams are primed to make some noise.
