The Minnesota Vikings flew blind, to an extent, into the NFL Draft in a year that is more pivotal than most in recent franchise memory. They relied on the coaching staff to make their picks, which have received mixed reviews, but it was something different for the team.

It all goes back to early on in the offseason when the team fired general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after the Senior Bowl and pivoted to Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski as their new leader. With the draft coming and going now, there is going to be a pursuit for a new general manager. ESPN's Kevin Seifert wrote recently about how the team is planning to be thorough in their approach as they get ready for their next chapter.

Seifert discusses the situation, writing, "There remains plenty of support among staffers for Brzezinski to get a promotion, even as he has continued to put off those discussions. By all indications, the Wilfs are going to run a genuinely open-ended search. It could include Brzezinski, but he is in no way a preferred candidate."

The team has a lot of front office folks who remain in place from previous administrations. Not just are Adofo-Mensah's people still in place, but a good amount of Rick Spielman's as well. Getting some turnover may not be a bad thing for a team that has been stuck in the same place for several years now.
