As of the last matchday, it’s official: FC Bayern are the 2026 Bundeliga champions! Despite clinching the title early, the league campaign is of course not yet over for the Munich men – and there are even a few records still up for grabs. If Vincent Kompany’s side win their last four matches of the season, it'll wrap up the best Bundesliga season in the club's history: FCB finished the 2012/13 season under coach Jupp Heynckes with 91 points and a goal difference of +80. The current Bayern side would then also finish on 91 points but would top that record thanks to a superior goal difference (already +80). Read on to find out what other facts and stats are of interest ahead of the match at Mainz:

There’s nothing quite like a trip away – especially for Vincent Kompany’s side. Bayern are unbeaten in 24 league games on the road stretching back to last season (18 wins, four draws). Only between 1985 and 1987 (26 games) and between 2012 and 2014 (33) did the Munich men enjoy longer winning runs away from home in this competition. However, the record champions suffered their last defeat on the road in Mainz of all places: on the day of the match, exactly 497 days will have passed since the 2-1 loss to FSV on 14 December 2024 and, from Bayern’s perspective, it must under no circumstances be repeated.

Bayern are on course to set a new record for away goals this season: the old and newly crowned German champions have already equalled the league record of 49 away goals set in the 2021/22 season, having played 15 away matches so far. In their remaining fixtures against Mainz 05 and VfL Wolfsburg, FC Bayern could become the first team to break the 50-away-goals mark in a single season.

Even when Bayern go behind, they don’t let it knock them off course. On Sunday, FCB were 1-0 down at one stage against Stuttgart, but ultimately ran out comfortable 4–2 winners. This means the Munich side have already picked up 25 points from matches in which they were trailing this season – the best record in the league. In the three-points era, only Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 1999/2000 season have picked up more points in this category (29) in a single campaign.

Goals galore: against VfB Stuttgart, Bayern scored at least four goals in one game for the 14th time this Bundesliga season – no other club has ever managed that so frequently in a single campaign. In total, the Munich side have already racked up 109 goals since the start of the season and might even catch up with Real Madrid. Los Blancos recorded a total of 121 goals in the 2011/12 campaign, the most in Europe’s top five leagues this millennium.

Impressive, Lucho! In the 4-2 win over Stuttgart, Luis Díaz recorded two assists for the third time this Bundesliga season. With 13 assists, he's the league’s second-highest provider behind teammate Michael Olise (18). But where the Colombian has the edge over the Frenchman is that he's the only player in the league to have scored at least 13 goals and provided at least 13 assists, making him the first Bayern player since the start of detailed statistics recording in 2004/05 to reach the 13-goal and 13-assist mark in both categories within a single Bundesliga campaign.

1. FSV Mainz 05 have recently often proved to be awkward opponents for Bayern. Over the past five years, no other team have recorded as many wins against FCB as Mainz: in four of their last five away league matches at FSV, the record champions returned home empty-handed. Including the 2-2 draw in the first half of this season at the Allianz Arena, the Rhinelanders have scored in five of their last ten Bundesliga outings against the Munich side.

However, you do have to look at the full picture: in the overall head-to-head record, FCB remain well ahead with 27 wins from 39 meetings (four draws, eight defeats). And should Mainz coach Urs Fischer’s run continue, Bayern could extend their lead even further. The Swiss coach has faced the Munich men ten times so far without securing a single victory (four draws, six defeats).
