PHILADELPHIA — The 76ers just came back from down 1-3 to the Boston Celtics in the first round. The Knicks aren’t letting lightning strike in the same place twice. The Philadelphia 76ers just pulled off an incredible comeback from a 3-1 deficit against the Boston Celtics in the first round, proving that no lead is safe in the NBA playoffs. But the New York Knicks are determined not to let history repeat itself.

While no team has ever recovered from an 0-3 hole in a playoff series, the Sixers are one of just 14 teams to win a series after losing three of the first four games. That's a stat that's not lost on Knicks head coach Mike Brown, who knows his team is facing a dangerous opponent that's already shown it can rally.

"They're a really good team, man, and they've already done it once before," Brown said after the Knicks held a film session following their Game 3 victory. "We addressed it, but the biggest thing is just trying to stay present, not getting ahead of yourself. The simplest way for me is just keep reminding myself and everyone around me: it's one game at a time, one quarter at a time, one possession at a time. Lock in on each possession like it's your last."

History is certainly on New York's side. Of the 161 teams in NBA history that have taken a 3-0 series lead in the playoffs, 98 have gone on to complete a 4-0 sweep. That's a staggering 61% sweep rate, a number that should give the Knicks confidence heading into Game 4.

Karl-Anthony Towns echoed his coach's mindset. "We just gotta stay in the present. The next game is the most important game," the star center said. "There's a lot of things we need to clean up, and we have another game to do that. It's about staying about us."

One key question mark for the Knicks remains the health of star forward OG Anunoby, who sustained a right hamstring strain in Game 2 and missed Friday's victory. Brown offered no update on his status, saying simply, "He's still day-to-day."

Despite holding a commanding series lead, Brown isn't willing to risk Anunoby's long-term health for short-term gain. "Not for me," Brown said when asked if the 3-0 cushion gave him flexibility to rest his forward. "It's all medical related. It starts with the doctors and OG. All I want them to do is tell me when he can play."

One bright spot for the Knicks has been the offensive adjustment Brown made when the team was down 1-2 in the first round against the Atlanta Hawks. That decision to run the offense through Towns has paid dividends, with the big man dishing out 20 total assists through the first three games of this series. It's a tactical shift that's kept the Knicks' offense humming and the Sixers' defense guessing.
