The Texas Longhorns women's basketball team is making moves to shore up their frontcourt depth, and they've found a key piece in the transfer portal. On Friday, the program secured a commitment from Jada Bediako, a 6-foot-3 forward who will bring her talents to Austin after spending the past two seasons at Marquette.

Bediako, who began her collegiate career at Georgia Tech, appeared in 26 games for the Golden Eagles this past season, averaging 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. While those numbers may not jump off the page, her size and experience add valuable depth to a Texas roster that has seen some significant changes in the post.

The Longhorns are coming off a season that saw starting forward Justice Carlton enter the transfer portal and senior center Kyla Oldacre exhaust her eligibility. Carlton was a force for Texas, averaging 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore while earning a spot on the SEC All-Tournament team. Oldacre, meanwhile, was a reliable presence off the bench, appearing in 37 of Texas's 39 games and serving as the team's second-leading rebounder.

With those departures, the Longhorns are turning to a mix of returning talent and new faces. Starting center Breya Cunningham is back to anchor the paint, and Bediako will join a promising group of incoming freshmen forwards, including Brihanna Crittendon and Isi Etute. Additionally, Lovisa Asbrink Hose, who redshirted this past season after transferring from Florida Atlantic, will be ready to make her debut.

Bediako is the second transfer to join Texas this offseason, following former Oklahoma guard Skylar Vann. As the Longhorns continue to reload for another competitive season in the SEC, this addition signals a clear focus on building a deep, versatile frontcourt that can compete at the highest level.
