The Texas Tech softball team is setting its sights on a national championship, and star player Mia Williams is leading the charge—though she'd rather talk about the team than her own record-breaking season.

Williams has been on an absolute tear this year, shattering single-season records for home runs (22), RBIs (73), and runs (81). She's also closing in on the program marks for doubles and total bases. But when asked about her historic campaign, she keeps it simple: "I think just having my plan in the box and sticking to it, and trusting in my practice and work."

As the Red Raiders prepare to host the Lubbock Regional this weekend at Tracy Sellers Field, Williams isn't focused on individual accolades or even a potential return to Florida for the Super Regionals. Her mind is on one thing: winning a championship with her teammates.

"I think we have a team that's full of dogs," Williams said. "We're all really competitive and we just want to win."

Head coach Gerry Glasco has been using the past few days to fine-tune the little things that caused some late-season hiccups, including the Big 12 Conference championship game against Arizona State. "We want to play our best ball of the year," Glasco said. "We had some moments in the Big 12 tournament where we played really well and we had moments where we could play a lot better. We want to be more consistent."

With expectations higher than ever, the Red Raiders have spent most of the season as the marquee opponent on everyone's schedule. That won't change with Marist, Ole Miss, and Boston University coming to town. "Marist is a winning team, 16-2 in their conference," Glasco noted. "They're going to come out and compete hard. It's a Super Bowl for them, and we've got to come out and match their intensity."

For a team that's already made history this season, the ultimate prize is still within reach. And with Williams swinging a hot bat and a roster full of competitors, the Red Raiders are ready to make a deep postseason run.
