Texas Longhorns win out over Georgia and Ohio State, landing a commitment from 4-star tight end Brock Williams to the 2027 recruiting class.

The Texas Longhorns have secured a massive win on the recruiting trail, landing a commitment from four-star tight end Brock Williams for the 2027 class. The playmaker made his announcement live on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, May 15, choosing Austin over powerhouse programs like Georgia and Ohio State.

"I have had in my mind where I wanted to go for the past few weeks," Williams said. "You cannot go wrong with coach [Steve Sarkisian], especially the offense he's putting you in. You're going to have top-of-the-line quarterbacks, the best quarterbacks in the country, so that's huge for me, as well."

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Williams is the No. 79 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 4 tight end nationally, and the No. 5 player out of Illinois. He joins a Longhorns class that already includes five-star receiver Easton Royal and three-star tight end JT Geraci, making him the 11th overall commit and the second tight end in the group.

Williams, a product of Libertyville High in Illinois, originally planned to commit in December 2025 but delayed his decision. He most recently visited Austin for Junior Day on Jan. 24, where the Texas culture and offensive system sealed the deal.

On the field, Williams has been a stat-sheet stuffer. As a sophomore in 2024, he hauled in 35 catches for 608 yards and seven touchdowns. He followed that up with an even more impressive junior season in 2025: 44 receptions, 596 yards, and 11 scores—plus kickoff and punt return touchdowns. A multi-sport athlete, he also plays baseball for Libertyville.

Scouts see big potential in Williams. Recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins has compared him to former Ohio State tight end Max Klare, who was selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. For Longhorns fans, this commitment signals that Texas is building a tight end room ready to compete at the highest level.
