Spring Branch (Texas) Smithson Valley three-star quarterback Ty Knutson, a Texas Longhorns commit for the 2027 class, has received a coveted invitation to the Elite 11 Finals, one of the most prestigious honors for high school quarterbacks. This summer's camp, now in its 27th year, will bring together 20 of the nation's top signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles in June.

Knutson, who committed to Texas in February, earned his spot by excelling at the Elite 11 Regional in Dallas back in March. He joins Michigan State commit Kamden Lopati as the 19th and 20th invitees, filling out the roster. This marks the 12th time a Texas pledge has been invited to the event, following in the footsteps of Longhorns freshman Dia Bell, who was named MVP of the 2025 camp—the first Texas quarterback to achieve that honor.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 202 pounds, Knutson is currently ranked No. 496 overall and No. 33 among quarterbacks by Rivals. However, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian clearly sees more potential, and it's widely expected that Knutson will earn a four-star rating when recruiting services update their rankings after camp season. He chose the Longhorns over offers from Houston, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, TCU, and Texas A&M, making him the first quarterback commit in Texas's 2027 class.

For fans of the Longhorns, this invitation is a promising sign of the talent pipeline Sarkisian is building. As Knutson prepares to showcase his skills alongside the nation's best, all eyes will be on Los Angeles this June to see if he can follow Bell's MVP path.
