Tennessee basketball has officially rounded out its frontcourt with a familiar face. The Vols secured a commitment from VCU forward Christian Fermin on May 14, according to a CBS Sports report—and he's no stranger to the program's incoming talent.
Fermin, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound senior, spent three seasons with the Rams and started all 38 games during the 2023-24 campaign. He averaged 4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 54.4% from the floor. Notably, he played alongside Terrence Hill Jr., another transfer headed to Knoxville, during the 2024-25 season. However, Fermin appeared in just four games last year before stepping away due to a personal matter.
Coming out of Pocono Mountain West High School in Pennsylvania, Fermin was rated a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 5 overall player in the state by the 247Sports Composite. He drew power conference interest from Pittsburgh and Penn State before choosing VCU.
With Fermin in the fold, Tennessee's frontcourt now runs four players deep. The Vols return freshman forward DeWayne Brown and have added transfer center Miles Rubin from Loyola Chicago, along with forward Braedan Lue from Kennesaw State. This depth gives head coach Rick Barnes plenty of options in the paint heading into the 2026-27 season.
Tennessee's roster is nearly complete, with 14 of 15 scholarship spots filled. The Vols have been busy: they inked seven transfers, four high school recruits, and two returning players—Brown and guard Troy Henderson. The 2026 high school class got a major boost on April 16 when the program landed the top recruit in Tennessee, 6-foot-9 forward Chris Washington Jr., pairing him with 6-foot-8 four-star forward Ralph Scott. Three-star recruits Manny Green (6-6 wing) and Marquis Clark (6-1 guard) round out the prep additions.
From the transfer portal, Tennessee has brought in Wake Forest guard Juke Harris, Belmont guard Tyler Lundblade, Cal guard Dai Dai Ames, Loyola Chicago center Miles Rubin, Notre Dame forward Jalen Haralson, VCU guard Terrence Hill, and Kennesaw State forward Braeden Lue. It's a roster built for competition, and Fermin's arrival seals the frontcourt puzzle.
