Swansea City's star striker Zan Vipotnik is not going anywhere on the cheap. Head coach Vitor Matos has sent a clear message to potential suitors: it will take "proper money" to lure the Slovenian sensation away from south Wales.

The 24-year-old forward is currently the hottest property in the Championship, leading the golden boot race with 20 goals. His two penalties in Monday's 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough only solidified his status as the division's most lethal finisher, putting him four goals clear of his nearest challenger with just five games remaining.

Vipotnik's rise has been remarkable. After a quiet first season following his free transfer from Bordeaux, he has blossomed into the Championship's standout performer for the mid-table Swans. His form has been so impressive that he's been nominated for the EFL Championship Player of the Season award, alongside Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney and Coventry's Carl Rushworth.

Crucially for Swansea, they hold all the cards in any potential transfer saga. In March, Vipotnik committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract that ties him to Swansea until summer 2030. This strategic move means the Swans are under no financial pressure to sell their prized asset.

"What you can do is improve the player, offer him the best contract possible that allows him to be happy here," Matos explained. "He knows our project, he knows what we want for us as a club for the future. He wants to be part of that."

The coach acknowledged that every player has their price in modern football, but he emphasized Swansea's strong negotiating position: "The good thing is that they need to come with proper money."
