Strasbourg face a major selection headache ahead of their UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final first leg against Rayo Vallecano on Thursday night, with key players ruled out.
Valentín Barco is the most notable absentee. The Argentine hasn't featured since picking up an injury against Mainz, and even if fit, he would be ineligible due to suspension. It's a double blow for manager Gary O'Neil, who also loses Guéla Doué. The defender was a doubt as he battled illness, but he won't be risked for the crucial tie.
The injury list doesn't stop there. Aaron Anselmino and Joaquín Panichelli remain sidelined, while David Datro Fofana is also unavailable—though not through injury. With options limited, all eyes turn to the attack. Julio Enciso is expected to lead the line, stepping in ahead of Emanuel Emegha, who is still working back to full match fitness after his own layoff.
Despite the absences, Strasbourg still boast plenty of firepower. The predicted XI features Mike Penders in goal, protected by a back four of Ben Chilwell, Ismael Doukouré, Andrew Omobamidele, and Abdoul Ouattara. In midfield, Maxi Oyedele partners Samir El Mourabet, while Sébastien Nanasi, Martial Godo, and Diego Moreira provide width and creativity behind Enciso.
It's a test of depth for O'Neil's side, but with the semi-finals on the line, Strasbourg will be desperate to make the most of their home advantage.
