Here's a breakdown of this week's rankings, based on games through Sunday, with previous rankings in parentheses.
1. St. Laurence (24-1, previously 1st)
The Vikings showcased their resilience in a rain-delayed thriller against Mount Carmel. Oakton commit Sean Popp delivered the clutch moment, smacking a walk-off RBI single to cap a 5-4 comeback victory that spanned two days. Senior designated hitter Daniel Coyle, a Lewis recruit, also starred with a 7-for-16 week, tallying four runs, two doubles, a home run, and 11 RBIs across four wins.
2. Lincoln-Way East (21-2, previously 2nd)
The Griffins keep rolling, powered by Rocco Triolo's explosive performance. Triolo homered twice and drove in four runs, leading his team to a 9-6 win over Homewood-Flossmoor and completing a two-game sweep.
3. Lockport (17-7, previously 3rd)
Anthony Farina was untouchable on the mound, tossing a complete-game gem. He struck out eight and allowed just one unearned run on three hits in a 5-1 victory over Lincoln-Way Central.
4. Brother Rice (17-8, previously 4th)
Junior infielder Luca Agne had a week to remember. Not only did he announce his commitment to Boston College, but he also drove in eight runs over four games—all wins—proving his value at the plate.
5. Lincoln-Way West (16-4, previously 6th)
The Warriors are surging, thanks in part to Wisconsin-Platteville recruit Matthew Oberts. He drove in three runs and scored two more as Lincoln-Way West rolled to a 12-0 shutout over Bradley-Bourbonnais.
6. Mount Carmel (16-9, previously 5th)
Wake Forest commit TJ McQuillan led the Caravan to a dominant 13-3 win over Fenwick, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs in a game that ended in six innings.
7. Lemont (18-3, previously 7th)
Zane Schneider set the tone early, tripling and scoring in the first inning to spark a 3-0 victory over Indiana's Hanover Central. Lemont's pitching held strong to preserve the shutout.
8. Sandburg (15-6, previously 10th)
The Eagles are flying high after sweeping district rival Andrew. Senior right-hander Peter Jurcenko was the star in Game 2, throwing five shutout innings in a 4-0 win.
9. St. Rita (15-6, previously 8th)
Jayden Ibarra delivered a solid start, allowing just one run over four strong innings as the Mustangs beat Providence 6-3. Despite a tough 1-3 week, St. Rita salvaged a key victory.
10. Providence (13-9, previously not ranked)
The Celtics make a splash in the top 10 after a statement week. Junior righty Kobe Jordan tossed five shutout innings in a 2-1 win over Lincoln-Way East, and the team also topped St. Rita 4-2.
