Steve Kerr has officially inked a new two-year contract to remain at the helm of the Golden State Warriors, the team announced Tuesday. The agreement, finalized over the weekend, ensures that one of the NBA's most decorated coaches will continue to lead the franchise through its next chapter.

The extension comes after a challenging season for the Warriors, who missed the playoffs for the second time in three years. Golden State finished as the 10th seed in the Western Conference before falling to the Phoenix Suns in the play-in tournament last month. Jimmy Butler was lost for the season in January with a knee injury, while Stephen Curry missed 27 games due to a right knee issue. Over his 12-year tenure, he has guided the team to eight playoff appearances, six NBA Finals trips, and four championships — including five straight Finals runs from 2015 to 2019. The trio shared an emotional embrace near the end of the loss in Phoenix, with Kerr acknowledging afterward that it could have been their final game together.
Named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2015-16, Kerr boasts a career regular-season record of 604-353 and a stellar 104-48 playoff mark. The Warriors last captured the title in 2022, and Kerr's steady hand will be crucial as the team looks to reload around its core.
