As Kentucky Basketball fans eagerly await the finalization of the 2026-27 roster, head coach Mark Pope has been exploring every avenue—from transfer portal targets to high school recruits—to build a competitive squad. However, with several key prospects slipping away, the coaching staff turned their attention to the international market, hoping to land a game-changing talent.

One name that generated significant buzz was Stefan Joksimovic, a 6-foot-7 Slovenian wing who has been turning heads in European basketball circles. A projected first-round pick in the 2027 NBA Draft, Joksimovic seemed like the perfect fit to fill Kentucky's starting small forward spot, bringing elite athleticism and skill to a position of need.

Unfortunately for Big Blue Nation, that dream has been put to rest. On Friday, Joksimovic's agent, Sasa Zagorac, confirmed that his client will not be making the jump to college basketball. Instead, the promising prospect will remain with Saski Baskonia, a professional club based in Spain, to continue his development overseas.

"Recent reports suggesting that Stefan Joksimovic has been linked with a potential move to the NCAA are inaccurate," Zagorac stated. "As his agent, I confirm that he remains fully committed to Baskonia for next season and is focused on his development and the upcoming challenges with the club."

This news leaves a significant gap in Kentucky's lineup. As things currently stand, Kam Williams is expected to take the reins at the three spot, with Braydon Hawthorne also poised for substantial minutes. Williams, however, brings versatility—he can slide over to the two guard and even see occasional action at the four, giving Pope some flexibility but not the definitive answer he was hoping for.

The Wildcats had previously set their sights on Tyran Stokes to anchor that position, but after missing out on him as well, Pope will need to get creative if he wants to add an impact player on the wing. With Joksimovic officially off the board, Kentucky's search for a starting-caliber small forward continues—and the clock is ticking on roster construction.
